Ben's Kidney Update

We have been monitoring Ben's left kidney since before he was even born! During one of my ultrasounds when I was pregnant, a measurement was a little bit off and triggered a red flag for us. It was nothing major and wouldn't even be looked at when he was born, but it was something we would need to look into shortly after he was born. We have been monitoring it ever since.

We were hoping it would go away by his first birthday, but they were still seeing some fluid around the kidney at that point (hydronephrosis), so we had to do some more tests to rule out potential problems at that point. Those tests all came back well, thank goodness so it's just been a waiting game since then. His Dr. was pretty confident it would heal on its own as Ben continued to grow. We did an ultrasound when he was 2 and there was still a trace amount of fluid present, so we just did another ultrasound last week and I am so happy to say that it came back completely normal with no signs of hydronephrosis!  YAY!  We'll talk to his Dr. in more detail at his 4-year appointment soon, but it sounds like he has outgrown it and we have one less thing to worry about. :)
