Our Gift

When a birthday rolls around, there is always a lot of talk of parties and desired presents. Of course that is the fun part of having a birthday, but it also isn't lost on Jim or me what the true gift of February 19th will always be - the birth of our son, Benjamin in 2009. We just can't believe our little guy is already 2 years old. He continues to amaze and entertain us with the funny things that come out of his mouth and the speed in which he is absorbing information. He knows about 1/2 of the letters of the alphabet and most of his colors now. His vocabulary has just exploded the last couple of months and it's so nice to have a mini conversation with him (or at least understand what he wants!). One of the quirkiest likes he has right now is he loves 2 songs - "Angel" by Akon and "I Gotta Feelin'" by the Black Eyed Peas. No other song will do so long car rides can be fun! Hahaha.

Ben had his 2-year doctor appointment yesterday and he did so great. We got him a Dr's Kit for Christmas, hoping to make the instruments fun and not scary. We brought it with us and I think it helped a little bit. He now weighs 22 pounds, 11 ounces (still about 2.5%) and is 32 1/4 inches long (about 15%). He is growing perfectly along his own curve, so nice and healthy. Poor guy had to get his blood drawn for the blood lead test to start school, but he did awesome. He just sat there and watched as the blood went into the tube. I think he was fascinated. And anytime you get to pick a sticker at the end isn't so bad, right? So one shot and some blood drawn later, we were on our way. Hopefully we won't be back there for another year. :)

How did our gift go from this?
To this?
Lots of love, that's how. What a great ride the last 2 years have been. Looking forward to the next year even more!
