San Marcos Fire Station Open House

We had seen posters up around our neighborhood promoting an Open House at Station #1 in San Marcos. Ben LOVES fire trucks and fire stations, so we figured he would enjoy this event. We made puppy chow the night before to take to the firefighters and headed over to the station to check out the Open House. Wow, we were so impressed. They went all out - kids could color, pretend to crawl under fire, spray the fire hoses, get free face painting, and check out numerous vehicles - firetrucks, ambulances, a command center, rescue truck, and a police car. They also had a little demonstration to show all of the firefighter's gear and how to put out a fire with an extinguisher. There were rookie firemen grilling hot dogs and burgers and music was blasting. Ben was a little overwhelmed at first, but he eventually warmed up to everything and had a blast.  I just hope this is the only time Ben is in the back of a police car! :)
