Ben's very first visit to the dentist was back on May 17th of this year (I don't think I blogged about it) and he did pretty good. He wouldn't let them take x-rays or clean his teeth or even lay down in the chair by himself. Instead, he sat on my lap and leaned over so the dentist could at least look at and count his teeth. But it was a good introduction to the dentist and he left with a prize, a sticker, and a smile. And instructions to start flossing. :)
Ever since that visit, Ben has been so good about brushing and flossing every night - even insisting on it the nights we have been out late and we tell him he can skip it. He was asking when he could go visit the dentist again, saying he would do pictures (x-rays) and a cleaning this time, so I was happy to make the appointment.
You should see this place! Amazing - totally decked out for the kids. Video games, an underwater theme with real fish, a playhouse, and movies constantly playing. Ben was so excited to do the x-rays - he put on the big heavy apron and smiled the best he could with the thing in his little mouth. He couldn't quite handle the bite-wings yet, but they got great pictures of his top and bottom teeth. Afterwards, he said, "That was easy." Then it was time for the cleaning. He got into the chair, laid back, put on the bib and sunglasses, and even felt the toothbrush before she put the chocolate-flavored toothpaste onto it (he chose that flavor of course!). But then he was over it and didn't want to do the cleaning. We didn't push it. The dentist came over and Ben let him look into his mouth with the mirror and scraper-thing to check for plaque and overall health.
We got a great report - no cavities and things look good. He suggested Mommy and Daddy brush his teeth after Ben does to make sure they all get clean. Ben picked a prize, got his sticker, and then didn't want to leave! He loves playing there - and who wouldn't? Check out the pictures below.
