Mini Vaca

As an early birthday present for Jim, my Mom came down to our house on Friday to watch Ben all day so Jim and I could have some time to ourselves and pretend like we were on a mini vacation. We spent the entire afternoon at the beach. We ate lunch, read magazines, listened to music, sat on our butts, laid out, threw the frisbee back and forth, and went swimming in the ocean. I can't remember the last time it was just the 2 of us at the beach.

After a quick trip home to shower and give hugs and kisses to Ben, Jim and I ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant down the street from our house that we have been meaning to try since the day we moved into our house a year ago. There was a bit of a long wait for our food, but it was definitely worth it and a place we will return to soon. Finally, we headed to La Costa to drink some wine and listen to OttoPilot play outside of Blue Fire Grill. We loved the music and also took a few minutes to walk the grounds of the hotel, checking out a wedding in progress at the adult pool area and wandering around the private cabanas imagining we were in fact on a week-long vacation. :)

Jim and I had such a great day together, celebrating his birthday a little early with our mini vacation. Of course we found ourselves surrounded by little kids both at the beach and also listening to the music at La Costa, which made us miss Ben. We knew he would have enjoyed himself, but sometimes it's important for Mom and Dad to re-connect. And that's exactly what we did.

Happy 35th Birthday babe.
