Beach Day!

Finally! A perfect beach day! I know it seems crazy to say that we haven't been to the beach yet this summer because the weather hasn't cooperated, being that we live in San Diego (known for it's great weather), but the truth is we get a lot of marine layer and overcast days at the beach.  It might be in the 90's and sunny at our house inland, but overcast and low 70s at the beach (not my ideal beach weather although the boys could care less!).  Or we will have scorching hot, beautiful beach weather all week, but then it will get colder and again overcast on the weekends.

But this past weekend was PERFECT beach weather - no clouds, hot, sunny, not much breeze, and the water was bearable for swimming. :)  We decided to spend most of Saturday in Del Mar.  We love the beach there and Ben loves that there is also a playground and trains that go by.  We went early enough to get a great parking spot and spent about 2 hours on the beach - playing in the water, boogie boarding (Ben tried it once), collecting shells, playing smashball, and eating our lunch.  After a while, Ben wanted to go to the playground, but of course everything was way too hot to play on and we left after going on the swings for about 5 minutes.  We grabbed some ice cream bars in town before heading home.  Now I finally feel like it's summer (just as it's ending). :)
