Our little peanut. I could have sworn Oliver was going to be at least 10% for weight this time around based oh how well he has been drinking his bottles, but I guess not. Oh well, the Dr. wasn't too concerned and I told her we already went through this with Ben, so I know not to stress about it too much. Jim and I just make lean children. :)

A big part of it is probably how active and mobile he is.

At 6 months, Oliver is now on the move! He started really crawling about a week ago and there is no stopping him now (except when we box him into the living room with pillows!). He has a slightly modified crawl - he uses both hands well, and gets onto one knee, but then he uses his other foot instead of knee. It looks pretty funny - he is kind of walking on one foot, and dragging the other leg along. But he's good at it and getting super efficient and fast already.

Don't let the cute face fool you, this guy has me up 2-3 times at night to eat still. :( Sometimes it is every 2 hours and I feel like an absolute zombie the next day. But the Dr. had said to feed him when he wants at night because he is so little. At this last appointment, she said I can cut it down to just once - thank goodness. We'll see how it goes....

Oliver is still such a happy little guy. We don't get a ton of laughs - we still have to work for them, but we get a lot of huge, open mouth smiles. And he only really fusses when he is hungry, super tired, or his little gums are hurting him. Otherwise, he's content. And he LOVES his big brother still. Ben definitely gets the biggest smiles and Oliver just watches Ben when we are all home together. It is the cutest thing.

Like I said before, Oliver is finally polishing off all of his bottles. He gets 5-6 bottles a day of 5 ounces each and he is starting to drink it all. He used to drink 2-3 ounces at a time and then you'd have to give him the bottle again 45 minutes later to try and get that 5 ounces down. Hopefully he's on a little growth spurt! He is still exclusively on breastmilk, but I only nurse in the middle of the night or sometimes for his last feeding of the day. We started the rice cereal again and he seems to love it! He eats a good portion of rice or oatmeal cereal every night and now we are introducing other foods. He's had sweet potatoes and carrots so far and did pretty well with them (ate about 1/3 of a jar each time).

Eating dinner every night means we usually end up doing bath almost every night too! I try to stick with every other night, but dinnertime is just so messy that a bath is in order most nights. And he loves the bath, so might as well. We had put him in the ducky once, but have gone back to the baby tub in the kitchen sink. He's on the chair side now, to sit upright and it's just easier and faster. He chews on a couple of bath toys and is happy as a clam.

We have been so lucky having my Mom watch Oliver 2 days a week and then having Kaitlin (she works at her Mom's daycare down the street - the one Oliver will go to soon) come the other 2 days (with Jim and I home every other Friday). It has been so reassuring for me to have him in his own home, with his own toys, and his own crib for these past 3 months. But now it is coming to an end and Oliver will start attending the daycare in Kaitlin's home in about 2 weeks.

Oliver is a grabber! We have to be careful holding him now because he is so curious and grabs for everything. I'm always amazed at how far he can reach! I no longer wear necklaces around him and my hair goes up into a ponytail as soon as I walk in the door! We had a little hot dog/mustard incident at the beach the other day from his crazy grabbing. :)

Oliver still loves to jump and he likes spending time in the jumper but he likes people to watch him and still talk to him/interact with him while he is in it. Otherwise he gets annoyed and whines. As soon as we look at him or say something, he gets a huge smile on his face and does crazy big jumps. And he will spend a little more time in the Exercauser now. He has played in there for a good 20 minutes at a time (used to be about 5).

Oliver is much happier on walks now that he can sit and face out in the BOB. Sometimes he will even fall asleep on walks. And he has taken a few naps in the BOB when we are out and about - like at the fair and the beach.

Everything still goes into his mouth, but the drooling has subsided for now. Wonder when that first tooth is going to pop through??? Oliver still doesn't take a pacifier, but will chew on one occasionally. :)
