This year, we decided to pair down. We offered to host Christmas this year (just us and my parents), so we knew we had to get some furniture to fill the room and with little Oliver cruising around, we headed to Home Depot to find a much more modest tree.
We always have good luck getting trees from the Home Depot, but it means we have to open quite a few to get to the "perfect one" and it just so happens to be sunny and hot every year - what's up with that?
Documenting all of the strings we had to cut to check out trees :)
We found "the one"
Ben thought this blow-up decoration would look good in our yard :)
When it was time to decorate our tree, we put on a few ornaments with Oliver (mostly for pictures sake) before putting him to bed so the rest of us could get to work. I always love this tradition - we make hot chocolate, put on Christmas music, and look through all of our ornaments as we put them on the tree. We always buy ornaments when we visit new places, so it's so special to remember all of our trips and tell Ben where we got all of them. We also have some amazing glass pieces my Uncle makes, but those stayed off of the tree this year so they wouldn't get broken. :)
Ben was a great helper this year - this was the first time he didn't put every ornament on the same branch! He actually spaced them out and of course, he loves helping Daddy put the angel on top at the end. :)
All done!
