This year, we almost went for a HUGE tree - it was gorgeous, but there was no way Jim could get it on my car or into the house by himself, so we decided to be a little more realistic and stick to a 6-7' foot noble fir. We only had to open a few to find our tree - the truck had just delivered a bunch of trees and this was one of them - nice and fresh.
Set up and ready to decorate
We like to put on some Michael Buble Christmas music, make some hot chocolate, and put the ornaments on the tree together. We try to look through them all as we unwrap them, but Ben wants to move a little more quickly sometimes! I love going through all of our ornaments because they almost all have a story. We try to buy one every time we go on a trip or vacation or visit someplace new. We also have ornaments for milestones like buying our first house, first baby, first Chritmas afer getting married, etc. There are a few ornaments from our own childhoods and ones we have gotten from parties and gift exchanges, and others we just liked and bought. Ben typically places all of his ornaments in one spot towards the bottom of the tree, so Jim and I move those around later. :) One of my favorite things about our tree is our little ladder with elves. My parents had one on our tree growing up and I just loved it. A few years ago my Mom found a place that made them and gave one to me and my sister. Such a special part of our tree.
Deciding which ornaments the elves will hold this year
Time to put on the angel!
Silly boy!
And this is the best I could get from Ben - so typical :)
(Tickling for a smile)
All done!
Oops, forgot the candy canes! Adding those on later. :)
