We got into the Christmas spirit Thanksgiving weekend. With Thanksgiving falling late in the calendar this year, I wanted to make sure to get every ounce of Christmas I could possibly get. :)
We had the house decorated that weekend and have just been enjoying it all December long. One night recently we decided to go for a little drive and look at Christmas lights on the houses in our neighborhood. This was always a Christmas Eve tradition in my family growing up, so it made me so happy to be doing it with my family. We got some hot chocolates and turned on Christmas music and drove around. Jim knew of one house in particular that goes all out, so we got out of the car for that one. They have been decorating for 26 years and there is so much to look at. It was packed with people and Ben thought it was pretty cool. Last weekend we also made Christmas sugar cookies. We decided to actually make the dough this time (we bought pre-made one time and they blew up to huge crazy shapes in the over) and they turned out so good! We decorated some with sprinkles and candies and then baked some to put icing on later. I think Ben and I actually enjoyed icing cookies the best. We were able to bring a plate of cookies to Ben's 2 teachers and a plate for the rest of the staff to school the next day. We even delivered a plate to our neighbor across the street. We're checking off our Christmas "to do's". :)
