40 years and counting...

My parents will celebrate their 40th Anniversary on October 12th and we (the kids - Jim and I and Lori and Craig) started discussing what we could do for them several months back. We have had so many wonderful weekends there together and my parents have done so much for us over the years that we knew we had to do something special to celebrate their 40 years together. We decided a surprise party would be perfect - to have their friends and family all together, doing what they love best, just hanging out by the pool and having a great time.

After a lot of planning and scheming (and some lying!), Jim and I managed to get them out of the house for an afternoon while Lori, Craig and family friends got the house all ready with decorations, food and drinks. We are so fortunate to have such special friends and family who made the trip from Indiana, Arizona and all over California to be there for the party. Everything went perfectly and we really surprised them both! You can see from my Dad's face below that they were not expecting this at all!

Thank you to everyone who made it to the party, it meant so much to have each and every one of you there.

Congratulations Mom and Dad - you are an inspiration and an amazing example of how to make a marriage last and raise a loving, caring, happy family. I know Lori and I feel so grateful to have such wonderful parents, and now grandparents! :)
