We had 2 special visitors last weekend - Nana and Gramps! They flew into LA earlier in the week to spend a few vacation days checking out the museums and great restaurants. They made their way down to San Diego Friday afternoon, just in time to get a house tour (their first time seeing our new house!) before picking up Ben from school and grabbing some pizza for dinner at our usual spot. Around this same time, we were getting news and updates on Meg, Stephen and their soon-to-be-born baby. Meg was being induced 3 weeks early, so Christine decided to cut her trip to CA short to be with them.
We managed to fit in one full day with her before she took the red-eye back to New York. We decided to go to Del Mar for the day and enjoy the gorgeous weather. We walked the beach, let Ben play at the playground and then had some lunch. After Ben's nap, Nana and Gramps gave Ben his belated birthday presents (puzzles and a guitar!), then we did some yardwork in the backyard before heading to dinner. We had a wonderful dual-birthday dinner for Ben and Christine and then Rick took Christine to the airport and we headed home.
On Sunday, Rick, Jim, Ben and I headed to the park close to our house in the morning. Ben played and played and then played some more. We also fed the ducks. After Ben's nap, my parents came down to spend the afternoon with us. We played some basketball and just hung out. Rick spent Monday at a local golf course and was able to squeeze in a little more time with us that evening before he flew back to New York the next morning.
It was so nice having them out here. Whenever we went anywhere and they drove separately, Ben was constantly asking where they were. He especially loved reading books with Nana and Gramps. We will miss them and we look forward to our trip out to Cape Cod this June to see everyone again.

Reading Goodnight Moon (Nana recorded her voice and sent it a while ago)
Now reading his numbers book
And finally "Go Dog Go!"
